Support the Refettorio Ambrosiano
The Archdiocese of Milan and Caritas Ambrosiana are promoting the 'Refettorio Ambrosiano' project, a new service being offered to those in need as well as an educational step related to food and human nourishment in view of 'Expo Milan 2015'. The Refectory will be in what was once a theatre connected to the San Martino parish church in the Greco district of Milan, which dates back to the 1930s and has been disused for quite some time. This space, with its fine architecture, has been completely renovated and converted into a refectory that is open to solidarity.
The opening of the Refettorio Ambrosiano has been set for June 2015, but life within the refectory will continue beyond Expo. Caritas Ambrosiana, who shall run the refectory from the very start, have integrated it into their network of care services, thereby accompanying their users in full while promoting humanity. The refectory can seat a total of 90 people and will serve hot meals to those coming from Caritas parish counselling centres, its more targeted services and its Rifugio, or night-shelter, for the homeless at Central Station.
